JSS Medical College, Mysore — officially known as Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Medical College and popularly referred to as JSSMC Mysore — stands as one of Karnataka's most distinguished private deemed medical institutions and a jewel in the crown of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha's educational mission. Founded in 1984 by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, a century-old philanthropic trust inspired by the spiritual lineage of Suttur Math, JSSMC has spent four decades building a legacy of academic rigor, compassionate healthcare, and internationally recognized medical research. For NEET UG 2026 aspirants seeking world-class medical education in a serene, culturally rich city with outstanding academic infrastructure, JSS Medical College, Mysore is consistently ranked among the top choices in India.
JSSMC is a constituent college of the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), a Deemed University that holds the prestigious Category-I status from UGC (the highest category awarded by the University Grants Commission since 2018) and is accredited with NAAC A++ Grade — the highest NAAC accreditation possible in India. The college is situated on a beautiful 43-acre green campus at Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Bannimantap, Mysuru — approximately 10–15 km from Mysore's Mandakalli Airport, ensuring excellent connectivity for students from across the country and abroad. Mysore itself, a heritage city of Karnataka famed for its Dasara celebrations, pleasant climate, and progressive civic culture, offers MBBS students an ideal living and learning environment far removed from the distractions of a metropolitan city.
JSSMC holds full approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and has earned international recognition from the WHO Directory of World Medical Institutions, the General Medical Council (GMC, UK), and the Sri Lanka Medical Council. These recognitions make the MBBS degree from JSSMC universally valid, enabling graduates to pursue postgraduate studies, residencies, and medical practice in India, the UK, Sri Lanka, and several other countries. The institution is also accredited by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) for its hospital, certified as an ISO 9001:2008 institution, recognized by DSIR as an approved research facility, and holds IAO certification — a uniquely comprehensive portfolio of quality certifications among Indian medical colleges.

The college is recognized by DSIR as a scientific and research institution — a distinction that enables tax-exempt donations for research, further fueling the research environment. For NEET PG aspirants, this research culture translates directly into clinical depth and superior examination performance.
Clinical Training and Hospital Exposure at JSSMC
The cornerstone of JSSMC's MBBS training is its world-class attached teaching hospital — JSS Hospital, Mysore. This 1,800-bed, NABH-accredited multi-specialty tertiary care hospital serves as the primary clinical training ground for all MBBS students. With 37 clinical specialties, 67 active outpatient clinics, and a daily OPD footfall of over 2,000 patients from Mysuru and five surrounding districts, JSS Hospital provides students with unmatched clinical volume and diversity. The hospital operates 24×7 emergency and trauma services, advanced surgical suites, ICU complexes, modern imaging facilities (CT, MRI, PET-CT, Cath Lab), a full blood bank, and specialized units for neonatology, oncology, neurology, and cardiology. What sets JSS Hospital apart is its dual mandate: providing affordable, ethical healthcare to all sections of society while simultaneously functioning as a world-class academic teaching hospital — a balance that ensures students encounter both advanced tertiary cases and the full spectrum of community health needs.
Campus Life, Student Welfare and Mysore City Advantage
